Netherhall and Peacock Archery held their World Archery weekend shoot on 16th and 17th June. On the Saturday the rounds for the senior recurves were 70m rounds, the compounds shot 50m on 80cm targets, whilst the juniors and cadets shot 60m. The Sunday shoot incorporates the outdoor Cambridgeshire Archery Association championships.
Daniel and Mel shot on the 70m targets and finished the ranking rounds with scores of 510 and 471 respectively. This put Daniel in 18th and Mel in 26th. It was then onto the head to heads where you shoot 3 arrows per end, the winner of each end scores 2 points, if you tie that’s 1 point each. The first archer to 6 set points wins. Daniel was knocked out in the first round 6-2, Mel was knocked out in the first round 6-0.
Sunday was the turn of the WA1440 round with Mel shooting 144 arrows across 4 distances of 90m, 70m, 50m and 30m. Harry was shooting a similar distances of 60m, 50, 40m, 30m.
Mel finished with a score of 879 which was enough to win the 2018 Cambridgeshire Outdoor Gents Recurve Bronze medal.
Harry meanwhile scored 1,273 out of 1,440 which was a Junior Master Bowman score. This made Harry the overall winner of the Metric II round and also the winner of the 2018 Cambridgeshire Outdoor Junior Recurve Gold medal.
