Field Archery Day 2018

Field Archery Day 2018

On Sunday 1st July we held our annual mock-up field archery day on the Amherst field. We have a slight lack of woods or trees, but did try and use the line of trees to shoot through. Last year we shot at black and white targets we printed ourselves. This year we opted for 8 full colour animal targets all placed at random distances from 9m to 22m.

Scoring was based on a simple 1,2,3 or Miss. This time around we also used our own equipment, last year we made everybody use training bows.

We held two rounds of scoring, with a special head to head barebow round at the end shooting a single arrow closest to the centre circle. We had Bart against John, and Malcolm against Alison. In the final we saw Alison and Bart shoot it out, with Alison the winner.

This was really just a bit of fun, but hopefully in the future through grants and fundraising we will be able to purchase some proper 3D animal targets. So if have not signed up to our free online fundraising scheme – please do so now and help our cause at https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/elyarchers/
