Hit n Miss Competition

On the last indoor day of the 2023 season Ely Archers held their own Hit n Miss competition. Equal teams based on handicaps were picked from a hat. The teams then went straight into team shooting against the other team on the target. The winning team move left and the losing team move right. Each match consisted of 3 ends of 3 arrows.

After 6 matches we had a final with Robert Cox and Jordan Richards vs Simon Gamble and Colin Yaxley

The overall winners on the day (pictured) were Robert and Jordan.

Ely Archers Team Frostbite 2nd Place

Parkfield Archers at Wimblington hosted the third and final 2022/23 team frostbite of the year. In attendance was Grey Goose Archers, Ramsey Ravens, Parkfield and Ely Archers. This time the team had 15mph winds to contend with.

Ely Archers had Alison (BB), Pete (BB), Alex (R), Daniel (R), Jordan (C) and Mel (C) shooting.

In the end Ely Archers came 2nd out of the four clubs with the win going to Grey Goose Archers.

A great afternoon of shooting nonetheless with a lovely spread of rolls, pork pie, sausage rolls and crisps laid on together with tea and coffee in the social club.

Thanks to Parkfield Archers for hosting.

Barebow Indoor Cambs County Champions 2023

Harry, Louise, Alex, Daniel, Alison, Pete, Luc, Julian and Lindsey all shot at the Cambridgeshire County Indoor Championships on Sunday 12th February 2023 at One Leisure, St. Ives. The Open Portsmouth shoot is run by Jolly Archers and incorporates the Cambridgeshire Archery Association (CAA) Indoor Championships.

This was the first year the shoot was UK Record Status so this meant official bow inspections and 2 minutes of shooting for 3 arrows.

Pete had an intense day shooting against Stephen Barnes from Ramsay Ravens, but Pet held his nerve and came through in the end. I think all Barebow archers had a tough day down one end of the hall trying to ignore a broken ceiling light that constantly flickered on and off like a slow strobe light. If the cold hall didn’t get to you the light may have.

Overall, a brilliant result for the club with lots of medals.

Here are the results from both the Jolly Archers shoot and the incorporated Cambridgeshire Indoor County results:
