After getting married in May, Ely Archers members Simon and Jane visited Scandinavia for their honeymoon and they took part in an open archery competition at Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen on the 18th May.
After shooting two ends with less than optimal equipment they managed to walk away with ‘Goldie’ a prize bear scoring over 120 points.

Several Ely Archers (Louise, Paul, Daniel, Jordan and Julian) attended the World Archery weekend at City of Cambridge Bowmen on Saturday and Sunday 13th and 14th May at Downing College Sports Ground. The rounds shot were double 720 rounds, so 144 arrows plus sighters each day. Distances on offer were 70m for senior recurve, 60m for 50+ recurve and longbow and 50m for barebow and compound.
Saturday saw chilly breezy weather whilst the Sunday saw a mixture of clouds in the morning but full sunshine in the afternoon, with no wind at all.
Ely did manage to collect a few medals and some good results over the weekend and some personal bests were achieved. Although traditionally medals are not handed out at these types of events, as people are usually just shooting for national ranking points.

On the last indoor day of the 2023 season Ely Archers held their own Hit n Miss competition. Equal teams based on handicaps were picked from a hat. The teams then went straight into team shooting against the other team on the target. The winning team move left and the losing team move right. Each match consisted of 3 ends of 3 arrows.
After 6 matches we had a final with Robert Cox and Jordan Richards vs Simon Gamble and Colin Yaxley
The overall winners on the day (pictured) were Robert and Jordan.

The three Ely Archers club winners of 2023 were crowned last Sunday.
Portsmouth Handicap Shoot Winner – Anne Teurtroy (Barebow)
Friday Night Bray League Winner – Pip Gardner (Barebow)
Friday Night Vegas Competition – Mel Tang-Richardson (Compound)
All winners were presented with their trophies by club chair, Daniel Coe at the last indoor club shoot of the season.
Parkfield Archers at Wimblington hosted the third and final 2022/23 team frostbite of the year. In attendance was Grey Goose Archers, Ramsey Ravens, Parkfield and Ely Archers. This time the team had 15mph winds to contend with.
Ely Archers had Alison (BB), Pete (BB), Alex (R), Daniel (R), Jordan (C) and Mel (C) shooting.
In the end Ely Archers came 2nd out of the four clubs with the win going to Grey Goose Archers.
A great afternoon of shooting nonetheless with a lovely spread of rolls, pork pie, sausage rolls and crisps laid on together with tea and coffee in the social club.
