Wymondham Archers WA Weekend 2023

Several Ely Archers including Paul, Daniel, Julian and Jordan attended the Wymondham Archers World Archery weekend on the 10th and 11th June 2023. Some chose to attend just the Saturday and take part in the WA720 rounds with head to heads, some just the Sunday shooting WA1440 rounds and the crazy ones attended both days.

The Saturday weather was hot with gusty winds which lowered scores, whilst the Sunday was equally hot but with less wind, although enough to make differences in the scores, especially at 90m.

Paul and Jordan qualified 3rd on Saturday and Julian qualified 1st in his own category. On Sunday Daniel finished 2nd and Jordan finished 3rd in the WA1440.

Medals were handed out to those who shot well and attended both days. Julian was awarded a medal by shooting his Longbow on Saturday and Barebow on Sunday.

Wymondham Archery were great hosts with free tea and coffee all day and cooled bottled water – which was definitely required!

Wymondham Archers Third WRS WA Weekend was held on 11th & 12th June 2022 with Harry, Louise, Jordan, Mel and Daniel attending.

Day One – Saturday

Day one was a ranking round with head to heads. 70m for recurve and longbow, 60m for masters and 50m for barebow and compound. The weather was sunny but there was also a strong breeze from the south-west all day with gusts at times. In the qualification round Harry ranked first with a score of 580 and Mel ranked 6^th with a score of 481. Jordan ranked 6^th with a score of 490 and Louise ranked 1^st with a score of 520.

In the head to heads Harry won all his matches to finish 1^st overall and Mel fought well through the matches and ended up coming 3^rd overall.

Day Two – Sunday

Day two was WA1440 and Metrics with four distances of 90m, 70m, 50m and 30m for all bow types. The weather was sunny but slightly overcast at times there was a breeze from the south-west which got stronger after lunchtime.

Shooting single detail certainly sped things along and at one point we were an hour ahead of time, with most of us back home by 4pm. Mel finished 3^rd in men’s recurve with 986. Jordan finished 7^th in men’s compound with a score of 1,022 and Daniel finished 1^st in men’s barebow with a score of 713.
