St. Nick in the Summer

What a great windy day to shoot a St. Nicholas round, which is 4 dozen at 40 yards and 3 dozen at 30 yards. It was a great decision to shoot from the tree lined end of the field for a change. This removed the sun from our eyes, put the wind behind us, provided a shady area to shoot from and it gave us some very nice downward shadows on the arrows in the target.

Everyone who shot the St. Nicholas round today gained a Personal Best, but Mary also gained an Ely Club Record with 474 on her barebow. Bart gained an Ely Club Record with 296 on his barebow, Daniel scored 692 an Ely Club Record and Danielle scored an impressive 541 on her recurve which was also an Ely Club Record.

A nice afternoon of shooting, plus there was also some fun to be had with balloons.

Very well done Harry!!

July Clout Results Rain Down

A very breezy 140 yard and 100 yard clout was shot today. Windy enough for a few of us to have problems keeping the arrow on the arrow rest.

I do feel that anybody with a long rod does have an unfair advantage, plus having a line of trees at the back of the shooting field always helps to give us something to aim at.

Karl arrived late but finished off strongly by actually hitting the clout flag.

Final scores today were:
