New Target, Compound Bow and Longbow from Mick George Community Fund

Ely Archers applied for the Mick George Community Fund grant back in April 2022. Ely Archers asked for a number of items to continue to help the Cambridgeshire archery club thrive and grow. This included an additional Danage foam target and stand as well as allowing Ely Archers to make modifications to a trolley so that it could hold another archery target.

In addition to this Ely Archers also asked for a right handed compound bow (a left handed one will be next on the list!) and a longbow. These bows will be shown off and demonstrated to beginners when on beginners’ courses and will allow all members of all abilities to try out the bows and decide if they want to perhaps purchase their own.

Thankfully the Mick George Group and Mick George Community Fund and Living Sport, okayed the grant of just under £1,500 and Ely Archers have now taken delivery of the Danage target, our first compound bow and longbow. So a big thank you goes out to Mick George Ltd. Thanks also to Clickers Archery of Norwich for supplying the items.

Already the compound bow has been shot by several club members and the longbow is proving to be even more popular. So popular in fact, an online booking system for having shooting time with the bows has been planned.
