A nice evening for beginners and others to shoot for a while in the Sun. I collected a bundle of scoresheets, it’s now Sunday and I’ve caught up! Lots of achievements whilst I’ve been away: Ronnie Neilson and Paul Newton have both achieved their Second Class Archer level with their compound bows. Trevor Bellamy has achieved Third Class Archer with his recurve. Well done you three. Club Records have been beaten, or set as new, by: Will Black, Harry Tapp, Ronnie Neilson, Maggie Johnson, Martin Ley and myself. Harry also took part in two tournaments elsewhere and came first in one of them, out of 5 Junior Archers, Well done Harry ! Finally, you remeber the Postal Portsmouth Tournament we entered over last Winter ? Well, we came second in our division of 6 clubs, well done everyone who offered their scores to this tournament. Right, a scrap of Sunday lunch and out in the Sun to shoot some arrows, 108 + 6 sighters on offer today ! Rob.

Rain in the morning but it cleared away and we even had some hot Sunshine in the afternoon. About a dozen of us shot and 4 of us managed to complete the American in the strong wind. [ Ronnie’s light arrows were being blown away, so she retired. ] No records broken or set today, but Paul Newton achieved Third Class Archer with his Compound and Martin Ley Second Class Archer with his Recurve. Well done chaps. I’m away for a few weeks, so see you in early June. You can have another go at the American next

The rain cleared and we enjoyed a pleasant shoot. An 80 yard target was run separately, which looked to work nicely. The rest of us enjoyed ourselves at shorter ranges, a few scoring and others establishing sightmarks for next Sunday and generally practicing. I managed to beat Tim’s recent record for Barebow, Short Warwick and on Sunday Ronnie beat her own record for Short National with Compound. Fingers crossed for more good weather !
