2nd Portsmouth Sunday

Today was our 2nd Portsmouth Sunday indoors. Ian and Daniel managed personal bests today. Ian scored 545 and Daniel scored 543. The actual senior Gents Portsmouth club record is 549 – so this can be beaten!

Steve shot a solid round of 465 today and it was great to see Alison record her first indoor barebow score of 317.

A number of Portsmouth badges have now been given out. I have lots more to give out this coming Friday. Last week Trevor received the 450 badge, but today he has gained the 475 badge – I expect to be presenting him the 500 badge soon.

Next Sunday we are shooting a Worcester.

1st Place Medals at Jolly Archers

Jolly Archers hosted their York, Hereford and Bristol event on Sunday 18th September at King’s Ripton, Huntingdon.

Both Louise and Daniel shot in the Bristol II round. The Bristol II round is a total of 144 arrows, consisting of 72 @ 60 yards, 48 @ 50 yards and 24 @ 40 yards.

Daniel scored 1020 out of a possible 1296. Both Louise and Daniel obtained 1st place medals in their recurve category.

Junior Warwick Club Records

A nice calm Sunday for shooting for a change. Daniel shot a Long National, Maggie shot an American, whilst Malcolm (Barebow) and Rob (American Flatbow) both shot a Junior Warwick – both record scores at 320 and 225 (if we record junior rounds for Gents!). It’s nice to see Rob back (I have un-archived his records on the system).

Ending on a sad note though, sadly yesterday for the second time this week Mike W. lost another arrow to the wicked outdoor season. The first saw the carbon strip away from the aluminium like a cheese string just by hitting the grass, whilst the second arrow yesterday came away from the target with no point and a cracked end. May they rest in pieces.
