Sunday 2nd November 2014

Two Sundays to report on here, a Bray 1 and a Portsmouth, all results now recorded. Joshua Chapman set two new U16 records, for Bray 1 and Portsmouth. Dennis Williams has shot his way to a badge for Indoor. Eric Godber and Martin Ley have both shot their way to a C and D badge for Indoor. Conratulations to everyone ! Next Sunday our first BA Postal League Portsmouth.

Sunday 19th October 2014

Our Indoor season is well underway and some fine archery is happening ! A Club record has been broken already: Dennis Williams shot a Portsmouth (Triple Face) on the 12th and scored 561, beat Chris Collins record from last Spring. Classifications are from H to A this indoor season. Some of you have already submitted some class F,E,D and C scores. When 3 have been submitted you receive the appropriate badge. Unfortunately the system does not have target scores for barebow, longbow or flatbow. We decided last year that I would record the level achieved had the bow been a recurve. This understates the achievement by about one level, but means we can award badges to everyone, you’ll see a special column at the right hand side of the All Scores report with entries for Maggie and Tim already. I’ll let you all know what happens about the Postal League. I’m away on Friday until probably Sunday 2nd November, so, see you then !

Sunday 5th October 2014

The last scheduled event of our Outdoor Season was the Cambidgeshire End of Season Handicap Tournament hosted at Parkfield Archers site. It was a very relaxed and friendly affair, with 54 archers taking part, with a wide range of ages and abilities. Our team came second after handicap adjustments and we were awarded many individual medals ! Two Ely Archers’ Club Records were made/broken: Dennis Williams scored 796 shooting a Long Western with his compound bow. Harry Tapp scored 557 shooting a Junior Western with his recurve bow. Congratulations to everyone who has shot this Summer, sharing the pleasure, creating new personal bests, improving handicaps and classifications and setting or breaking club records. Final reports now published here. Now we move indoors, only 20 yards, but the targets are small !

Sunday 28th September 2014

Well that’s it for our Outdoor Summer Season. On Friday evening Dennis Williams shot a compound Warwick of 424, just 4 dropped points ! This is a new Club Record, beating Den’s own, set earlier this season. On Sunday we enjoyed a warm afternoon to work on bow settings and sightmarks, ready for next Sunday’s County Handicap Tournament at Wimblington. See you there ? Targets all stowed for the Winter and the locks sprayed with WD40
