A nice evening for archery with beginners and 11 archers shooting. Karl and Dan preparing for Sunday’s 70 Metre, 6 dozen. Back on Sunday afternoon, it was Fathers’ Day, so perhaps several wereaway, like myself, some National Rounds were shot and some completed. Louise Tapp shot a Ladies record for the Short National Recurve, well done Louise. On Saturday Harry Tapp shot his way to first place, beating 2 others, at West Essex Bowmens’ UKRS Junior Metrics in the U14 Metric 3 with a score of 1085, just 2 under the Junior Master Bowman ……. Bad Luck Harry, we all suffer from the just missed syndrome at times !!!

Sunday 14th June 2015

The morning rain dried up and ten of us enjoyed a very peaceful shoot, some Long Nationals, Nationals and Warwicks. The Sunday feeling effected most people’s mathematics though, so if Wojtek, Lukasz, Martin and Daniel notice their scores on the system are different, it was maths! I started the records for National American Flatbow with wooden arrows. On Friday many of us shot, Louise Tapp achieved Second Class Archer with her recurve, Lukasz and I achieved Third Class Archer with Recurve and American Flatbow (trad) respectively.

Lots of archers and beginners out tonight, excellent ! Some serious efforts going in now, I’m being kept busy with Record Certificates and Badges ! New records processed today : Mary Saggs attained Second Class Archer with her barebow and Maggie Johnson re-attained Second Class Archer barebow. Will Black and Cameron Fordham both attained Third Class Archer with their barebows and Will beat the record for Short Junior Warwick. Louise Tapp broke her own Short Warwick record. Martin Ley, Paul Newton, Ronnie Neilson and I, all set records with Windsor rounds. So, my next challenge is to estimate how big an order for badges !!! Well done everyone.

Sunday 7th June 2015

A perfect afternoon for putting up fresh targets and shooting a long round, but also, unfortunately, a perfect afternoon for the arrows to display their skills in burrowing in grass and earth ! So, by the end of the afternoon Nationals had been completed, but not the Windsors. The new markers, also almost buried in the grass, except for their brilliant yellow tops, were a great success. Many thanks to Steve and David for setting them out.

Wednesday 3rd June 2015

A nice evening for beginners and others to shoot for a while in the Sun. I collected a bundle of scoresheets, it’s now Sunday and I’ve caught up! Lots of achievements whilst I’ve been away: Ronnie Neilson and Paul Newton have both achieved their Second Class Archer level with their compound bows. Trevor Bellamy has achieved Third Class Archer with his recurve. Well done you three. Club Records have been beaten, or set as new, by: Will Black, Harry Tapp, Ronnie Neilson, Maggie Johnson, Martin Ley and myself. Harry also took part in two tournaments elsewhere and came first in one of them, out of 5 Junior Archers, Well done Harry ! Finally, you remeber the Postal Portsmouth Tournament we entered over last Winter ? Well, we came second in our division of 6 clubs, well done everyone who offered their scores to this tournament. Right, a scrap of Sunday lunch and out in the Sun to shoot some arrows, 108 + 6 sighters on offer today ! Rob.
