Archery Suspended due to Coronavirus

By now, you may have seen several emails from Archery GB regarding actions to be taken, in light of the governments recommendation to restrict public gathering. It will come as no surprise to you, that they have taken the decision to suspend archery activities:

Archery GB

What can clubs do?

We are advising that all archery in the UK is postponed for the foreseeable future, to reduce all non-essential contact with others. Our priority is the health and safety of our members, participants, volunteers and staff. Our latest statement can be found here.

We would like to clarify this guidance to providers of grassroots archery following on from the announcement made last night in relation to COVID-19 which can be found here.

While we work on pulling together further guidance which will answer the many questions you may have, please use our statements to inform your members and stakeholders.

Please feel free to email us at membership@archerygb.org and we will do our best to answer your queries and add them to our FAQ’s. Please be mindful that we are experiencing a large volume of enquiries so we may not be able to reply within the usual 72 hours.

The club committee has also discussed this, and we are in agreement that the health and safety of our members is paramount.

Therefore, Ely Archers will be suspending all club activities immediately. We will be keeping a close eye on the developing situation, and when there is any change, we will inform you directly.

Please see the Archery GB website for their FAQ and useful links for more information about what is being done to safeguard members.

If you have any questions, the committee will endeavour to answer them; but we are in the same situation; so working through this on a day by day basis.

Look after yourselves.

The Sutton Scout group receive over £200 from Ely Archers after annual fundraising raffle.

Every November Ely Archers hold their annual Portsmouth archery competition; in which archers attend from numerous counties. Every year, the club also hold a prize raffle, with funds being raised for a chosen charity. Last Friday, several Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Scout leaders joined Ely Archers for a have-a-go archery session, before being presented with the cheque. These funds will be put towards the groups ongoing fundraising for a new venue.
