Club Target Days

Definition of Club Target Days

 i)             A Target Day is any day and time appointed under the Rules of the Club and previously announced to the Members.

(ii)          There is no statutory limit to the number of officially appointed Target Days in any one week.

(iii)         All scores made must be entered in the Club Record Book.

(iv)        Target Days should commence punctually at the announced time.

 (v)          All shooting shall be in accordance with GNAS Rules of Shooting.

(vi)        On any Club Target Day there shall be a minimum of two archers shooting, not necessarily on the same target, but each must record the other’s scores in order that those scores may be recognised.  An archer shooting alone may claim his score provided that it has been recorded throughout by a non-shooting archer.

On a Club Target Day, an official GNAS or FITA round will be nominated and archers will be able to shoot that round if they so wish.

Generally, although these rounds are nominated and score sheets are provided by the club, it is the archer/group-of-archers responsibility to implement the round they wish to shoot. If you're not sure of anything or would like an overview, please don't hesitate to ask... during the normal Sunday session time others would only be too happy to give you some assistance where they can (or point you in the direction of someone who can!).

The following rounds have been nominated for February 2012:

Sunday 12 February            Portsmouth and Vegas
Sunday 19 February            Portsmouth and FITA 18
Sunday 26 February            Portsmouth and Worcester

Any amendments to nominated rounds should they happen will be notified here or by email from Mike Boxall.

NB:

To clarify the position with respect to target rounds and shooting the longer rounds that don't easily fit into a normal club session:

If you wish to shoot the longer rounds (those over about 6 doz) then you will need to make special arrangements to do so. This will mean either starting before the normal Sunday session or finishing later. There must be at least 2 club members present at all times (to score each other and for safety reasons) and, if one of those is not a key-holder, you will need to ask a key-holder if they would kindly open/close the container for you outside of the normal session time.

If you were hoping of trying for a county record, it is within the rules for you to shoot the nominated round at any time on the target day... so long as there are at least 2 of you and you don't score your own arrows.

If your score is verified by more than one archer, please have them sign your score sheet. This can be done in the "Judge" column if there is no other space.

For safety and insurance reasons, at least one archer must watch while the other/others shoot (i.e. split each end into 2 details). This is to look for danger such as members of the public. Please ask if you need further clarification on this.
