Oobac Windsor competition successes

A number of Club members braved the windy conditions to shoot a Windsor round at the new venue of Old Oundle Bowmen Archery Club near Peterborough on Bank Holiday Monday, 25 August.  Ely Archers were successful in winning the Team prize (courtesy of Sean Fox and George and Roy Lockwood).  Sean also took top place in the compound event, with Phil Lenney coming third, and George Lockwood won the junior compound class.  Roy Lockwood took first place in the Gents recurve class.

This was the first competitive event for a number of club members - well done to everyone who took part in difficult conditions!

New Members raise funds for endangered gorillas

New Club member Emma Clayton and her partner Nick Williams spent Saturday 16 August in Ely raising funds for endangered gorillas. Next month Emma will be running in her gorilla costume to raise even more money in the Great Gorilla Run in London with hundreds of other 'gorillas'.  Emma would like to raise more than £400 to help gorillas who are facing extinction in the wild.

Well done Emma! Makes a change from shooting your new bow!

Mepal Field Shoot Report, 16 March 2008

Almost 60 archers entered for the latest Ely Archers field shoot at Mepal Outdoor Centre, and most of them turned up in spite of the cold and windswept conditions on the day. Thanks to all of the people who helped set up the course on the Saturday, and helped take it apart afterwards. There were some amazing scores in view of the conditions - maybe next time we will make it harder....

Photos from the day can be found on the photos page.

Congratulations to both, and well done to all who took part in a very enjoyable event.
