Archery Beginners Courses |
|
Ely Archers run regular informal courses during the summer months for people who are interested in taking up archery, or who just want to try it to see if they like it! We run the courses on Wednesday evenings at the Kings School's Amherst field near Ely railway station, starting at 6pm, and each session lasts for approximately two hours. All equipment is provided, and you get personal tuition by one of a number of qualified coaches in the club, who will help to teach you the correct way to shoot in a friendly and informal way. For more information, and to register your interest in joining one of these extremely popular courses, please get in touch with us now by completing and submitting our Online Enquiry Form - we will then contact you as soon as possible. Our next course will be run in the spring of 2012. The cost of each course is currently £50 for the whole six sessions, (payable in full in advance) for each adult, and £25 for juniors who are under 18 years of age. As each course will run for six weeks you will get 12 hours of tuition - if a session has to be cancelled due to bad weather, we will run a further week instead. Many people ask about the cost of starting out in archery - once you have completed the course, we can give you straightforward and unbiased advice on all aspects of purchasing your own equipment, and we can also recommend the best places to go to buy what you will need. A trainer bow like the one which you will use on our courses costs about £60, with a basic set of arrows costing under £40, but we would recommend that you buy a better bow than this. A sensible amount to spend to get yourself all of the equipment that you will need in order to enjoy the sport and make progress is likely to be around £300 to £350. to acknowledge that our beginners courses have been funded in the past by the East
Cambridgeshire Community Fund, which is managed by Cambridgeshire
